Guinness Men's Six Nations is back on our screens this weekend and I was reminded of a great interview I did with @samwarburton_ a little over a year ago.

What a career he had - Captain of Wales at just 22, and the British & Irish Lions at just 24 – and continues to have off the field.  He talked to me about how he dealt with the pressure and scrutiny of captaincy at such a young age and his secrets to successful leadership.

These are some of nuggets from the Podcast that I also agree with, particularly that leadership is about buy-in and showing people you need them.  Good leaders need good people around them to challenge them in a healthy way and to drive the team, you can’t do it on your own.

•  Take a job title away and go into a brand new organisation for a week.

•  The way you behave for a week.  Would people follow you if you didn’t have the title?  That’s how I felt I had to be as a captain.

•  You still be you.  You be authentic but you lead by your behaviours and the way you are around people.  That was my leadership compass.  I still use that in life today.

•  Positive, Professional, People, Performance
